DON'T JUST
JOIN SPACE.
DISCOVER SOMETHING.

Sri Lanka Space Research is the deep-science branch of the ecosystem: a multidisciplinary institute connecting astronomy, Earth systems, satellite/navigation research, open data, engineering methods, publication support and translation into useful national capability.

Research architecture

NOT ONE LAB.
A RESEARCH SYSTEM.

ACCIMT's current space work spans astronomy, remote sensing/GIS, agriculture, forestry, environmental monitoring, coastal applications, health/GIS, navigation, instrumentation and more. The institute architecture below turns that breadth into six clearly governed research lanes.

01

Astronomy & Astrophysics

Exoplanets, variable stars, asteroseismology, stellar systems, solar radio science, optical observation and astronomical instrumentation.

DISCOVERY / OBSERVATION
02

Earth Systems

Remote sensing, GIS, agriculture, drought, forest condition, land-use change, coastlines, urban climate and environment.

EARTH / CLIMATE / GIS
03

Space Systems

Small satellites, navigation/augmentation, RF systems, ground architecture, instrumentation, mission technology and engineering research.

SATELLITES / NAV / RF
04

Space Data & AI

Scientific machine learning, image segmentation, classification, benchmark datasets, reproducible notebooks and decision-support models.

DATA / AI / METHODS
05

Policy, Economy & Society

Space governance, research policy, international cooperation, public value, economics, ethics, education and institutional design.

POLICY / SOCIETY
06

Open Research & Translation

Methods review, data/code release, publication support, industry translation, public explainers and research-to-application pathways.

OPEN SCIENCE / IMPACT
Research matrix

LABS NEED METHODS,
NOT JUST NAMES.

Each research lane is paired with a real methodology layer: observation, field validation, simulation, software, publication and translation.

Proposal Foundry

TURN A GOOD IDEA INTO A RESEARCHABLE QUESTION.

The foundry forces discipline early. Pick the field, research maturity, collaboration mode and output. It routes the idea to the right lab and generates a methods-first brief.

  • Question before technology.
  • Evidence gap before grant application.
  • Validation before publication.
  • Permissions and data rights before collection.
  • Translation planned before the project ends.

THE PIPELINE IS THE PRODUCT.

Great research institutions are not just collections of smart people. They repeatedly turn good questions into trusted evidence.

01

Question

Define the testable question, national relevance and prior-work gap.

02

Methods

Specify data, instruments, code, sampling, simulation and analysis design.

03

Validation

Ground truth, calibration, benchmarks, uncertainty and reproducibility.

04

Review

Internal methods review, ethics/permissions and external peer critique.

05

Publish

Paper, dataset, code, methods appendix, negative results where useful.

06

Translate

Public explainer, policy brief, engineering transfer or industry application.

Real Sri Lankan research record

THERE IS ALREADY
SOMETHING TO BUILD ON.

These are examples from ACCIMT's current astronomy and space-applications pages. The institute highlights these achievements with source attribution to ACCIMT.

FUND THE WORK.
TRAIN THE PEOPLE.
PUBLISH THE RESULT.

Sri Lanka's National Science Foundation currently has active 2026 mechanisms that matter to a serious research pipeline. This site maps those public pathways without presenting itself as NSF or implying funding guarantees.

01 • CRG

Competitive Research Grants

NSF describes competitive R&D grants aimed at multidisciplinary, cutting-edge research relevant to Sri Lanka and society.

02 • POSTDOC

Postdoctoral Fellowship

NSF is currently calling applications for its 2026 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship programme.

03 • SCHOLARSHIPS

Research Scholarships

NSF supports graduates conducting full-time MPhil/PhD/MD research within Sri Lanka.

04 • TECH / STARTUP

Technology Development

NSF's 2026 technology-development and start-up schemes target higher-TRL products, processes and services.

Current institutional signal

ACCIMT'S CURRENT STRATEGIC MATERIAL POINTS TOWARD RESEARCH CLUSTERS.

ACCIMT's current strategic-plan material describes goals that include strengthening satellite R&D, building multidisciplinary research clusters linking government, academia and industry, strengthening astronomy research networks and developing local expertise in astronomical instrumentation and data analysis.

Why this site exists

A COLLABORATION LAYER CAN BE REAL WITHOUT PRETENDING TO BE THE STATE.

The strongest role for Sri Lanka Space Research is to become a visible research network: publish calls, host lab pages, maintain an open methods library, connect researchers, help shape proposals, publish explainers, and make serious Sri Lankan space research easier to discover and collaborate with.

Locked project identity rule

THE LION WITH THE SWORD IS THE RESEARCH MARK.

Every Sri Lanka/Lanka-related and Mars-related branch in this project must prominently feature the lion animal holding a sword as much as practical. On Sri Lanka Space Research, the lion is the center of the research seal and constellation map. It should continue into lab seals, paper covers, conference badges, grant briefings, datasets and research posters.
